(G)I-DLE's Yuqi Unveils "YUQ1" Tracklist: Collaborations and Solo Debut Ambitions

(G)I-DLE‘s Yuqi is gearing up for her highly anticipated Korean solo debut with the mini-album YUQ1! The official tracklist, unveiled on the group’s social media on April 8th, offers a glimpse into the diverse sounds and exciting collaborations fans can expect.

YUQ1 boasts a total of seven tracks, with the lead single and opener “Freak” setting the tone. This song holds extra significance for Yuqi, as she co-wrote and co-composed it.

The project features a dynamic mix of solo and collaborative tracks. Veteran rapper pH-1 joins Yuqi on “Drink It Up,” lending his signature flow and contributing to the song’s creation. (G)I-DLE fans will be thrilled to see bandmate Minnie gracing the track “Everytime.”

Rounding out the features is Chinese musician Lexie Liu. Fans familiar with her talent from K-pop Star 5 and The Rap of China will be eager to hear her collaboration with Yuqi on “On Clap.” The entire mini-album is scheduled for release on April 23rd at 6 PM KST.

Yuqi’s artistic fingerprints are evident throughout YUQ1. She actively participated in writing and producing four of the seven tracks. This creative involvement extends beyond the official release, as the pre-release single “Could It Be” (dropped on April 5th) showcases her artistic vision.

While YUQ1 marks Yuqi’s Korean solo debut, it’s not her first foray into solo music. In 2021, she carved a successful path as a solo artist in China with the single album A Page, featuring tracks like “Giant” and “Bonnie & Clyde.” Her talent also shone on the Chinese music competition show Stage Boom, and she even contributed the powerful “Salute to the Heroes” as the theme song for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

Yuqi’s Korean solo debut marks a significant milestone for (G)I-DLE, making her the third member to venture out on a solo journey. Leader Soyeon established herself as a soloist before joining the group in 2017, and Miyeon followed suit with her solo record in 2022. The group, also featuring Minnie and Shuhua, recently released their acclaimed second studio album [2] in March, featuring the title track “Super Lady” and the pre-release single “Wife.” They further captivated fans with the recent music video for their B-side track “Revenge.”

(G)I-DLE’s ever-evolving sound and the individual pursuits of its members continue to excite fans worldwide. With YUQ1 on the horizon, Yuqi is poised to showcase her multifaceted talent and solidify her position as a rising star.
