Martin Scorsese Produces Beatles Documentary: A Must-Watch for Fans

A new documentary on The Beatles, titled Beatles ’64, is set to premiere on November 29 on Disney+, adding a fresh perspective on the band’s iconic journey to America. Produced by legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese and directed by David Tedeschi, the film dives into The Beatles‘ first trip to the United States in February 1964. This pivotal moment in music history saw the band make a groundbreaking appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show and perform at the Washington Coliseum shortly after.

The documentary showcases rare, never-before-seen footage captured by renowned documentarians Albert and David Maysles. Viewers will be able to witness intimate moments from the Beatles’ U.S. debut, offering a closer look at the energy and excitement surrounding their arrival. The project is co-produced by band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, adding an authentic connection to the group’s living legacy.

Beatles ’64 is set to release alongside The Beatles: 1964 U.S. Albums in Mono, a box set of seven reissued albums from that year. The collection includes iconic records such as Meet the Beatles!, A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), and Beatles ’65, among others. Each album has been meticulously remastered from the original mono master tapes, bringing a richer, more authentic listening experience to fans.

This documentary follows the success of Peter Jackson’s 2021 series The Beatles: Get Back, which offered an in-depth look into the making of Let It Be. Earlier this year, another major Beatles project was announced: a tetralogy of biopics, each focusing on one of the band members. Directed by Sam Mendes, the films are slated for release in 2027, further cementing The Beatles’ lasting influence on both music and film.

With the premiere of Beatles ’64, fans of the legendary band will have another chance to revisit one of the most significant moments in pop culture history, as the film captures the early excitement and impact of the Fab Four’s American invasion.
