The Beatles’ Last Hurrah: “Now And Then” Marks the Legendary Group’s Final Output

The Beatles

The Beatles, one of the most iconic bands in music history, may have disbanded decades ago, but their influence and music continue to captivate audiences around the world. For fans who never had the chance to experience the excitement of a new Beatles song, that void has been filled on November 2, 2023, as the band has released “Now And Then,” which is being hailed as “the last Beatles song.”

This final offering from The Beatles is the culmination of a decades-long journey. In a recent short film, the band revealed that the idea to complete “Now And Then,” originating from an old John Lennon demo tape, was first conceived in 1994. However, the available technology at the time fell short of achieving the desired results. Fast forward to 2023, and technology has finally caught up, allowing the realization of “Now And Then.”

Paul McCartney shed light on the process that brought this song to life, emphasizing the role of AI technology. He stated, “[Peter Jackson] was able to extricate [John Lennon’s] voice from a ropey little bit of cassette. We had John’s voice and a piano and he could separate them with AI. They tell the machine, ‘That’s the voice. This is a guitar. Lose the guitar.’ So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles’ record, it was a demo that John had [and] we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI. Then we can mix the record, as you would normally do. So it gives you some sort of leeway. We just finished it up and it’ll be released this year.”

The release of “Now And Then” marks a historic moment in music history, offering both longtime Beatles enthusiasts and new generations a chance to experience the magic of a new Beatles song.
