After a nine-year hiatus, Jamie xx is making a comeback with a new album, “In Waves”.
His first solo album, “In Colour,” dropped in 2015, and since then, he’s kept the music flowing with various singles, remixes, and an album with his band, The xx, titled “I See You”. This time, Jamie xx is flying solo again, and “In Waves” serves as a thematic follow-up, echoing the distinct style of his previous works, including the collaborative remix album “We’re New Here” with Gil-Scott Heron.
On social media, Jamie xx unveiled the cover for “In Waves” and shared a personal note on his journey over the years. “It’s been a while…and a lot has happened,” he wrote. “Through highs and lows, maturing, making sense of life, and then having to relearn it all again and again. Life’s major moments and global events have shaped us, together and individually. I aimed to create something that’s fun, joyful, and reflective at the same time. For me, those are the golden moments on a dance floor.”
He also released a new single from the album, “Treat Each Other Right,” complete with an intriguing music video that captures a wild celebration featuring elderly party-goers, nurses with plastic dolls, and a Gordon Ramsey doppelgänger. This new track is sure to catch the attention of his fans and keep them dancing.
