Paramore Forced to Cancel Remaining Tour Dates Due to Illness

Paramore

Paramore, the popular rock band fronted by Hayley Williams, has regrettably announced the cancellation of the remaining shows on their 2023 North American tour due to Hayley Williams’ ongoing illness.

Earlier, the band had to postpone four live performances after Williams fell ill during a concert in Houston, Texas. It was later disclosed that she was grappling with a lung infection.

Although the band managed to continue with two of the affected shows – San Francisco on August 7 and Seattle on August 9 – Williams has now confirmed the unfortunate decision to cancel the final two concerts.

In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram Stories feed, Williams conveyed, “Hey everybody, we just got off stage in Seattle. After speaking with our team and my doc, I know that trying to finish this tour is now going to come at a detriment to my health.”

Williams further explained, “My lungs are just not healing quickly enough to keep up. It got a little scary tonight. We will have the team post an official statement ASAP but we are going to have to cancel the last 2 shows of the tour so I can get better finally.”

Expressing her remorse for the disruption caused to fans’ plans, she concluded, “I’m so sorry for all the chaos this has caused some of you. I really tried to kick this. Love you all.”

The cancelled shows were set to take place at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland on August 10 and the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on August 13.

Paramore‘s tour was in support of their latest studio album, This Is Why, released in 2023. Williams, reflecting on the challenges of touring at an older age, had previously highlighted the differences compared to her younger years. Despite the disappointment, Paramore fans can look forward to the band’s upcoming role as supporting act on Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ in the UK and Europe next May.
