Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo, the breakout sensation of 2023, has released a mesmerizing music video for her latest single, “Can’t Catch Me Now,” featured in the official soundtrack of The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes. The haunting track, introduced earlier this month, sets the tone for the Hunger Games prequel film, scheduled for release on November 17.

The music video, a visual feast directed by Rodrigo herself, opens with a captivating tracking shot into a cabin where Rodrigo strums her guitar and delivers soul-stirring vocals on the edge of a bed. The narrative unfolds, portraying Rodrigo running through a lush green field, complemented by glimpses of Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler in their respective roles as Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray Baird.

The film’s soundtrack boasts a stellar lineup, including contributions from Zegler, Billy Strings, Charles Wesley Godwin, Molly Tuttle, and more. A testament to Rodrigo’s rising prominence in the music industry, the soundtrack echoes the tradition of featuring renowned artists, with past editions including Taylor Swift, HAIM, Charli XCX, The Weeknd, Coldplay, and Lorde.

Director Francis Lawrence expressed his enthusiasm about Rodrigo’s involvement, stating, “With her highly charged lyrics and urgent voice, Olivia Rodrigo taps into all of that as much as any artist today. She’s an absolute thrill to work with, and we couldn’t be more excited that her music is a part of the movie.

This release follows Rodrigo’s critically acclaimed second studio album, Guts, which delves into the challenges of navigating relationships under the watchful eye of social media, offering Rodrigo an opportunity to redefine her narrative on her own terms.

Rodrigo, riding high on success, garnered six Grammy nominations, a recognition she celebrated on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the recording academy and congratulating producer @dan_nigro for his Producer of the Year nomination.

As Rodrigo continues to make waves, “Can’t Catch Me Now” adds another dimension to her diverse musical portfolio, promising audiences a haunting and evocative experience within the context of The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes.
