Boygenius, the indie rock supergroup composed of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, have performed a new song called “Boyfriend” for the first time during their recent tour.

The song, which has not been officially released yet, is a tender and melancholic ballad that showcases the trio’s harmonies and emotional lyrics. The song explores the complex feelings of being in love with someone who is already in a relationship with someone else.

The song was first played at their show in Los Angeles on June 14, and then again at their show in San Francisco on June 16. A fan captured a video of the performance and uploaded it to YouTube, where it has already garnered over 10,000 views.

Boygenius formed in 2018 and released their self-titled debut EP in October of that year. The EP received critical acclaim and featured six songs that highlighted each member’s individual strengths as well as their collective chemistry. The EP was released by Matador Records, the same label that represents each of the solo artists.

The group has been touring together since November 2018, playing songs from their EP as well as from their respective solo albums. Baker released her second album Turn Out the Lights in 2017, Bridgers released her debut album Stranger in the Alps in 2017, and Dacus released her second album Historian in 2018.

Boygenius have not announced any plans to release a full-length album or any new music, but fans are hopeful that “Boyfriend” is a sign of more to come from the talented trio.
