Nilüfer Yanya Releases New Single “Method Actor” from Her Forthcoming Album

Nilüfer Yanya

Back in April, Nilüfer Yanya introduced us to her single “Like I Say (I Runaway),” which quickly became one of the week’s top tracks, as well as her first release since the widely praised album PAINLESS, hailed as one of the top albums of 2022. Recently, the talented British artist announced that this track would appear on her upcoming album, A Method Actor, set to drop in September. In addition, she released a new single titled “Method Actor,” which has already garnered excellent reviews.

“Method Actor” kicks off with some hauntingly discordant synths that burst into a chorus backed by some downright nasty guitar riffs. Yanya describes A Method Actor as her “most intense album yet,” and so far, it seems to live up to the hype. In a recent press release, she shared some insights into the track, explaining that it was inspired by her research into method acting. According to her, method acting revolves around tapping into a pivotal, possibly life-changing memory. This technique can be emotionally taxing and risky because it involves continuously revisiting that moment, whether positive or negative, to channel the energy that defined you into the character you’re portraying. She draws a parallel to music performance, where evoking the emotion and energy of the song’s creation is crucial each time it’s performed.

Yanya worked on A Method Actor alongside her creative collaborator Wilma Archer, known for his work with artists like Sudan Archives, MF DOOM, and Celeste. The album’s release will be celebrated with a series of tour dates across the US, UK, and EU. Meanwhile, don’t miss out on the “Method Actor” music video.
