BTS’ Suga has come forward to apologize to fans after his recent mishap. On Tuesday, August 6, he was caught driving his electric scooter while intoxicated, which led to the suspension of his license. The 31-year-old K-pop star shared a detailed post on Weverse, expressing remorse for his actions.
In his message, he mentioned he had been drinking the night before and decided to ride home on an electric kickboard, unaware that operating it under the influence was prohibited. He described how he fell while setting up the scooter at his front door and was then approached by a nearby police officer, leading to a breathalyzer test. Fortunately, the incident didn’t cause any property damage or injuries, but a fine was imposed and his driving privileges were withdrawn.
BigHit, BTS’ management company, also issued statements about the incident. They emphasized that Suga was wearing a helmet, had only traveled a short distance of about 500 meters, and fell while parking the scooter.
With less than a year remaining in his alternative mandatory military service—assigned to non-combat duties due to a shoulder injury in 2020—Suga remains prepared to face any repercussions from his workplace for this disruption.
According to authorities in Seoul’s Yongsan district, Suga was found alone and tested for alcohol at the police station, showing a blood alcohol content exceeding the legal limit.
In a concluding remark, Suga extended an apology for his actions, acknowledging their potential impact on others. He committed to being more vigilant in the future to prevent similar occurrences.
