Sparxsea’s latest indie-pop offering, “Roses in the Street,” released on July 18, blends electro-rock rhythms with poignant imagery of a rose blooming through a city sidewalk. The song melds piano synths, modern drum beats, and acoustic guitars with Sparxsea’s emotive vocals and rich harmonies, creating an uplifting anthem that encourages resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
The accompanying music video, filmed at Sandy Point, Maine, features a kaleidoscope of roses transitioning from darkness and flames to light and water. Against the natural coastal backdrop, Sparxsea appears almost ethereal, navigating urban structures before plucking a rose from the clouds, symbolizing hope and renewal.
“Roses in the Street” is part of Sparxsea’s upcoming indie folk-pop album, “On the Sea,” set for release on September 13. The album embarks on a thematic journey starting with “Little Wooden Boat,” where Sparxsea leaves home to explore life’s mysteries. Each track unfolds as a chapter in her personal odyssey, culminating in “Deep,” which unveils not an end but a new beginning. Through her music, Sparxsea shares a message of resilience and solidarity, reminding listeners that despite life’s challenges, warmth, love, and companionship can be found to help us thrive.
“On the Sea” features collaborations with notable musicians such as Dana Colley & Jerome Deupree of Morphine, Tim Reynolds of Dave Matthews Band, Nikki Glaspie of Beyoncé fame, and others. The album was produced by Will Bradford and Will Holland at Chillhouse Studios in Boston, known for their work with Pixies and Dead Can Dance.
Sparxsea’s musical journey has seen her perform at prestigious venues and festivals, including the L.L. Bean x Bull Moose Music summer concert series and the Maine Folk Festival. Her previous works have been featured in indie films and festivals, cementing her reputation as a versatile and evocative artist in the indie music scene.
