Selena Gomez has been a ubiquitous presence this summer, from her captivating verse on Rema’s “Calm Down” remix to her standout role on the TV show Only Murders In The Building, not to mention her highly acclaimed makeup brand, Rare Beauty. Despite her busy schedule, fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from Gomez. While her third album on Interscope Records, unofficially referred to as SG3, is still in the works, Gomez has decided to treat her fans to an end-of-summer surprise.
On August 25, Gomez released her latest single, “Single Soon.”
With “Single Soon,” Gomez captures the essence of a summer romance, while also acknowledging the approaching end of the season.
“I know he’ll be a mess / When I break the news / But I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon” she croons on the chorus.
In the accompanying music video, Gomez is depicted trying on new outfits, enjoying dinners with friends, and singing karaoke.

While it’s unclear if “Single Soon” will be included in SG3, Gomez mentioned in a February interview with Vanity Fair that her upcoming music is more upbeat compared to her previous releases.
“If I had my way, I would probably write ballads my whole life, but I want to produce music that will make people smile,” Gomez shared. “The music I’m doing right now is about real things that I’m walking through. It’s really powerful, strong, very pop. The theme generally is freedom—freedom from relationships, freedom from the darkness.“
