NewJeans, the rising K-pop group, has achieved a remarkable milestone with their latest EP, Get Up, which dropped on July 21. Following the release of their captivating video for “Cool With You,” featuring Hoyeon Jung and Tony Leung cameos, the anticipation and excitement surrounding the group have been on a constant rise. Earlier this year, NewJeans made their entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Ditto,” debuting at No. 96.

The success of Get Up has further propelled NewJeans to new heights, as the EP earned them their first-ever entry on the Billboard 200 chart, securing the coveted No. 1 spot on the chart dated August 5. With six compelling tracks, the EP also spawned two additional Hot 100 entries, with “Cool With You,” landing at No. 93 and “ETA” at No. 81.
Billboard reported that Get Up amassed an impressive 126,500 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending July 27, largely driven by CD sales. The achievement marks a significant moment for the Korean quintet as they become the second all-female group to top the Billboard 200 in less than a year, following Blackpink‘s “Born Pink” last September. Interestingly, NewJeans and Blackpink are the only all-female groups to achieve this feat in the last 15 years, with the last prior instance being Danity Kane‘s “Welcome to the Dollhouse” in April 2008.
In a highly competitive chart landscape, NewJeans’ accomplishment is further solidified by the presence of star-studded albums like “Barbie: The Album,” which debuted at No. 2. It is worth mentioning that “Barbie: The Album” introduced actor Ryan Gosling’s first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with his track “I’m Just Ken,” landing at No. 87 on the current chart.
As NewJeans continues to make waves with their music and captivating performances, their success on the Billboard 200 chart showcases their rising influence and popularity in the music industry. With their exceptional talents and growing global fanbase, it is evident that NewJeans has a promising future ahead.
