Lady Gaga Shares First Look Of Her As Joker’s Harley Quinn

The anticipation is high for Joker sequel Folie à Deux. Months ago it was confirmed that the Academy Award-winning singer and actress Lady Gaga is to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix as the infamous Harley Quinn. Now, Todd Phillips, the film’s director, shares the first look of her character.

Released in 2019, DC’s Joker had grossed $1 billion at the Box Office, earning Phoenix his first Oscar. Phillips, who returns to direct the second installment, co-wrote the script with Scott Silver. Lady Gaga has previously worked with the filmmaker on the acclaimed A Star Is Born, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.

DC Studios announced the development of a series of film, TV, animation, and video game projects that will all take place in a shared universe. Films like Joker and Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel will be part of DC Elseworlds instead. Peter Safran, co-chairperson and CEO of the company admitted: “The bar is going to be very high for projects to be outside the DCU, the Elseworlds projects. But every now and then there will be something that lives up to that.”

Joker sequel Folie à Deux is being filmed in New York and Los Angeles and is set to be released on Oct. 4, 2024, via Warner Bros.
