Showtime has acquired the rights to adapt the series “The Department”, which will be directed and co-produced by George Clooney. The production of the series is scheduled for 2023.
The French series “The Office of Legends” created by Éric Rochant, broadcast between 2015 and 2020 over five seasons, will therefore have an American version. A version that will no longer follow the agents of the DGSE’s special section (General Directorate for External Security), but instead, will be “anchored in the world of the American secret services taking into account the recent geopolitical context. The press release states that the series will largely be inspired by the testimonies of former CIA agents.
Obviously, everyone is delighted that the famous American Showtime and the prestigious name of George Clooney will be handling the project.
We could not have dreamed of a more powerful power duo, between George Clooney and Showtime for the North American version of the French series. The Department is set to reach international audiences, while we hope that the American version will be up to the original, which has been seeing a global success, proven by the fact that it was sold to more than 100 countries.
