James McAvoy, who played the youthful Professor X in the Fox X-Men film series, discusses his favorite and most challenging roles in those films. In the 2011 film X-Men: First Class, McAvoy made his acting debut as Professor X, the mutant telepath and founder of the X-Men, succeeding Patrick Stewart in the prequel movie. Following his portrayal of the role in Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix, McAvoy also had a brief appearance in Deadpool 2.
McAvoy muses on his experience in the X-Men franchise while making an appearance in a GQ video. He shares a funny behind-the-scenes story about his hair in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Additionally, the actor claims to still be in contact with his X-Men co-stars, describing them as “a terrific set of folks.” McAvoy also admits why his favorite X-Men film to create isn’t necessarily the one he found most fascinating.
