Adele Premieres A 7-Minute Dreamlike Video For “I Drink Wine”

Adele releases the new music video for “I Drink Wine,” which is the third clip of her most recent record 30, following “Easy on Me” and “Oh My God.” The multi-award winning singer revealed prior to sharing the visuals that the “I Drink Wine” video was the first one she shot for this album and she’s excited for her fans to see it.

Directed by Joe Talbot, the video features Adele floating along a river whilst pouring down glasses of wine. She gracefully cruises her way around, wearing a gold haute couture dress and toasting with dancers, swimmers, and fishermen. By the end of the clip, she’s bored from it all and is seen lying on her back covered with roses, which reminds the viewers of the painting by Sir John Everett Millais, where he portrays Shakespeare’s Ophelia.

The best-selling artist writes lyrics that speak straight to the heart : “Why am I obsessing about the things I can’t control?/ Why am I seeking approval from people I don’t even know?/ In these crazy times I hope to find something I can cling on to/ Cause I need some substance in my life/ Something real, something that feels true/ You better believe for you I’ve cried high tides/ Cause I want you so bad but you can’t fight fire with fire.”

She performed “I Drink Wine” at the BRIT Awards, winning Album of the Year for 30 and Song of the Year for “Easy on Me.” With over 5 million copies, the new album became a worldwide hit, earning Adele another milestone in her career.
