The song gained mainstream popularity through the popular social media app TikTok as youngsters were using a snippet from the chorus and lip syncing to it as a challenge through which they pitied an event.
“What A Shame” was released last year in 2020 but garnered attention just recently. Fun fact: singer-songwriter Leyla Blue was not even 18 when she dropped the track.
