Originating as buskers on the streets of Boston, indie folk duo Tall Heights have since gone on to travel the world to packed venues over the last few years. Paul Wright and Tim Harrington originally met in high school, and began making music together. Eventually, these casual jam sessions evolved into a distinct and refined sound over the course of a summer.
Now deep into their career, the pair have released their second single of 2021 with “Hear It Again”, a lush and invigorating piece with ties to the ’80s pop era and orchestral folk of more modern acts such as Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, and Lord Huron. Combining Paul’s lifetime of classical training, Harrington’s spontaneous artistic instincts, and the prismatic union of their unique voices, Tall Heights’ sound is best described as expansive and tranquil.
About the new single they share, “‘Hear It Again’ is a reverberating cry from the days of quarantine, a cry that has joyfully been answered. The writing process started on a pre-pandemic tour with Ben Folds, and was finished and recorded in pandemic isolation. The song is impregnated with this tension between 2 lost sanctuaries : home at home and home on the road. As the lines blur between the two, ultimately a feeling prevails that there is only one course back to peace for Tall Heights : back on tour.”
And as the world re-opens slowly, “Hear It Again” will have a chance to be heard on the road as Tall Heights have announced a string of fall tour dates (see below). Listen to the song here:
