Lady Gaga has some exciting news for her fans: she is working on a concert film for her 2022 tour, The Chromatica Ball. The pop icon and actress shared the update on Instagram, along with a heartfelt message about her creative journey and personal life.
The Chromatica Ball was a global tour that supported Gaga’s sixth studio album, Chromatica, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2020. The tour featured songs from the album, such as “Rain On Me”, “Stupid Love”, and “911”, as well as some of her classic hits, such as “Bad Romance”, “Poker Face”, and “Born This Way”. The tour was originally scheduled for 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It finally kicked off in July 2022 and ended in September 2022, grossing $112.4 million and selling 834,000 tickets from 20 concerts.
Gaga revealed that she filmed one of the shows at LA’s Dodger Stadium for the concert film, which she has been editing herself. She posted a black-and-white photo of her working on the film, with a still frame from the film behind her. She wrote: “I can’t WAIT for you to experience it”.
The concert film is not the only project that Gaga has been working on lately. She also mentioned that she wrote and produced music for a “special project”, without giving any details. She also said that she prepared for months developing her character for Joker: Folie à Deux, a sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix. She filmed the movie for many months, describing it as “a very introspective time”.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Gaga has been running her start-up Haus Labs, a beauty brand that she launched in 2019. She has also been doing philanthropic work, such as partnering with Pfizer for a new commercial to raise awareness about migraines. The commercial features some of the first professional footage of her Chromatica Ball tour.
Gaga also opened up about her personal life, saying that she has been experiencing her creativity in a “really special and private way” since last summer. She said that she has been enjoying some alone time that has been “extremely healing and recharging” for her heart, mind, body, and creativity. She said that she may not be sharing as much of herself online as she has in the past, but she hopes that her fans know that her love of making art, music, fashion, and supporting community has never been more fulfilling.
She thanked her fans, whom she affectionately calls Little Monsters, for being willing to grow with her and for inspiring her every day to bring joy to their lives. She said: “I hope you love all the things I’ve been creating for you and I hope this is a small reminder to you of my deep passion and commitment to art”.
