The Last Of Us, a video game adaption, has unmistakably struck a chord with viewers despite being set in a devastated world where mankind has been destroyed by an infectious fungus that transforms humans into savage beasts. After just airing its first two episodes, the Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey-starring series has already been given a second season order.
The story, which is based on the bestselling game created by Neil Druckmann and adapted by Druckmann and Chornobyl’s Craig Mazin, takes place 20 years after the fungal infection caused a ravaged civilization. Pascal plays Joel, a hardened survivor who is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. A simple task quickly turns into a hard and tragic trip as they both travel across the US and rely on one another to survive.
Druckmann says:
“I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey. The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!”
The Last Of Us premieres brand-new episodes on HBO Max every Sunday night in the US. Mondays at 2 am, the episodes are broadcast on Sky in the UK, with reruns available there and on the NOW streaming platform. The first episode of the show is available for viewing on Sky’s YouTube page for readers in the UK.
