James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water has surpassed one billion dollars at the global box office after only two weeks since its release. Produced and distributed by 20th Century and Walt Disney Studios, the film is set to become one of the highest grossing films of all time.
The Titanic director had revealed that based on its budget, the movie must eventually earn within the two billion dollar range in order to be considered a success. Avatar: The Way of Water cost around $400 million minus the marketing expenses.
Cameron’s ambitions may as well come true as the film has already become a favorite among the people. Since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avatar: The Way of Water is the only movie to cross that threshold in its first two weeks.
The sequel has yet to exceed the numbers of the original Avatar, which was released about 13 years ago, and grossed almost $3 billion globally.
