What’s not to like about a murder mystery movie? And in “House of Gucci,” there’s drama, celebrity, success, sex, and scandal. Oh, and it all actually happened, just 26 years ago.
The film tells the true story behind Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), head of the luxury brand, and his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) as they uncover the 1995 murder. Based on the Sara Gay Forden book, “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed,” the film is set to make waves on the big screen.
This Ridley Scott flick stars Adam Driver, Lady Gaga, an unrecognizable Jared Leto, Al Pacino, and Salma Hayak. And as any movie about an iconic fashion house should, the costumes are stunning. In March of 1995, a hitman shot the mere 46-year-old Maurizio at his office in Milan, which created a spiraling investigation into his murder that took years to solve. Patrizia Reggiani, dubbed the Black Widow by the press, received a 26-year prison sentence despite claiming her innocence.
Paparazzi photos have emerged from the set and it’s safe to say that Gaga, as per usual, dazzles. She looks foxy in a red, one-piece ski suit, looks classic in a white, lace dress in Lake Como, and looks determined wearing all black while driving away in a red, classic car.
The film recently released posters of the celebrity filled cast showing somber portraits and wearing dark clothing. And Leto as designer Paolo Gucci is almost completely unrecognizable. The set finished filming in Italy in May and it’s set to be in theaters on Nov. 24.
