Josiah Queen has just released his latest single “Cloud and Fire,” a heartfelt track that sets the tone for his upcoming album Mt. Zion, out August 22 via Capitol Records/Capitol Christian Music Group.
Written alongside John Michael Howell (who also produced the track), Zac Lawson, and Hillsong UNITED’s Dylan Thomas, “Cloud and Fire” draws inspiration from the story of Moses and the Israelites in the desert. The gentle ballad touches on themes of trust, spiritual guidance, and perseverance, with Queen offering a stripped-back performance that lets the emotion of the lyrics speak for itself.
“I wrote ‘Cloud and Fire’ after reading about the story of Moses and the Israelites journeying through the desert, led by a pillar of cloud in the day and a pillar of fire at night,” Queen shared. “It’s a reminder of God’s steadfast guidance through every trial.”
The new single follows a string of successful releases from Mt. Zion, including the viral track “Dusty Bibles,” which is currently logging over 5.2 million streams per week and charting in Spotify’s Viral 50 across 18 countries. With social media posts tied to the song reaching over 100 million views, Queen is continuing to build serious momentum.
At just 22 years old, the Tampa native is quickly becoming a notable voice in contemporary Christian music. His 2023 debut album The Prodigal garnered over 140 million streams and led to a sold-out headline show at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, with another headline show planned for November 1 at Tampa’s Yuengling Center.
Queen is also wrapping up a summer arena tour with Phil Wickham and Brandon Lake, with his final date set for August 3 at Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium.
With Mt. Zion just around the corner, this new chapter for Josiah Queen is one to watch—filled with spiritual insight, a growing fan base, and songs that reach well beyond church walls.
