Finn Wolfhard Announces New Album ‘Happy Birthday’

Finn Wolfhard Announces New Album 'Happy Birthday'

Finn Wolfhard, best recognized for his acting in Stranger Things and Ghostbusters, is taking a step into the music world with the release of his debut solo album, Happy Birthday. Wolfhard’s musical excursion is not unfamiliar. Fans will remember his short time as the lead singer of the indie rock band Calpurnia and later, The Aubreys.

However, Happy Birthday is his debut album as a solo artist. The album was born out of a challenge he gave himself: coming up with 50 songs before the end of 2022. While the majority of them did not see the light of day, a few caught his ear and formed the foundation of this album.

Finn Wolfhard has unveiled his debut solo album titled Happy Birthday, which comprises nine tracks. The tracks are personal and center on his emotions and identity. According to him, “I ended up writing a lot of terrible things, but some of those songs that I was proud of were sent to The Aubreys.” I started to realize there was a running theme in much of the rest of the other songs concerning my identity and phobias.”

To celebrate this news, he released the title single “Choose the Latter” as his first single. This track showcases his high-energy indie-rock style with driving beats and jangly guitars. Wolfhard can be seen in the music video singing in front of a green screen with a roller coaster, firing off a playful, homemade vibe to match the song’s pace.

Finn Wolfhard will be performing in North America on the Objection! Tour, starting on June 5, 2025. The tour starts in Los Angeles and will go through cities like San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. His high-energy live performances await his fans.

With Happy Birthday, Finn Wolfhard welcomes people in on his personal experience in friendly lyrics and catchy melodies. Fans are holding their breath waiting for the drop of the album and the next tour. The pre-orders on Happy Birthday are up, building up excitement for possibly an influential drop this year in indie music.
