Today (July 8) at Midnight KST, SISTAR’s Hyolyn released concept photos for her upcoming summer single, ‘Wait.’ The images show her posing in front of a waterfall with a flower in her hair. ‘Wait’ is set to be released on July 12 at 6pm KST. This marks Hyolyn’s first solo release in a year, following her July 2023 single ‘This Love‘ featuring rapper Paul Blanco. Before that, she released her third mini-album ‘Ice‘ and its lead single ‘No Thanks‘ in July 2022.
In January, Hyolyn and SISTAR bandmate Bora reunited as SISTAR19 with a new single album called ‘No More (Ma Boy).’ This was their first release in 11 years, following their 2013 mini-album ‘Gone Not Around Any Longer.’
During an interview, the duo shared their hopes for a SISTAR reunion but noted the difficulties due to being with different agencies. “It’s going to be tough getting four agencies together, but we’re ready to try,” Hyolyn said.
SISTAR, made up of Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou, and Dasom, debuted in 2010 with the song ‘Push Push.’ They went on to release popular tracks like ‘Give It To Me,’ ‘Touch My Body,’ and ‘Shake It,’ establishing themselves as one of the top second-generation girl groups.
In May 2017, their agency Starship Entertainment announced the group would disband after releasing their final single ‘Lonely.’ The group performed their hits on several Korean music shows as a farewell to their fans.
The group reunited in 2022 on the final episode of the live music show You Heeyeol’s Sketchbook to support Hyolyn’s comeback with ‘Ice.’
