Ed Sheeran Shares Plans for New Album 'Play' and Beyond

Ed Sheeran shared some of the news on his forthcoming album, Play. It’s all part of an overall, decade-long plan of thematic releases. Following his success with his previous albums, Sheeran has announced a bold strategy to release new music every two to three weeks before the release of the complete album in 2025.

The concept behind Play is a tale Sheeran has developed since the age of 18. Having drawn inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s decision to direct only ten films, Sheeran plans to release ten albums, with Play being the seventh one and the following albums being Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Stop. This ambitious project looks to try out different musical genres.

Ed Sheeran has been keeping himself occupied engaging with fans through surprise concerts and social media teasers. His recent shows in Boston and New Orleans showed his ability to connect with different crowds, fusing his pop style with regional musical heritage. The launch of his single “Azizam” featured strategic marketing efforts, including Instagram teasers and direct fan interaction, which have built up hype for Play.

Azizam,” the first single off Play, is Sheeran’s internationally inspired reflection, featuring collaborations with artists from China, India, America, and Ireland. This song marks a new musical direction and demonstrates Sheeran’s commitment to cultural diversity and musical universality.

Ed Sheeran revealed plans to produce five additional albums prior to retirement from the music industry. Following the completion of his ten-album discography, he intends to produce side albums as well as an album published after his death entitled \”Eject”, upon which he will incorporate music he recorded over his lifetime. Such a move is based on Sheeran’s desire to leave a permanent mark in the music world.
