Cornish-born singer-songwriter Polly Money has shared her new EP, T-Shirt Nothing Else. A former guitarist and vocalist for The 1975, Money’s solo work shows her artistic evolution, working with storytelling and infectious indie-pop melodies.
Polly Money’s journey began long before her association with The 1975. She has spent over a decade honing her craft, from gigging as a teenager to supporting Muse in Paris. Her prior EPs, Trip2020 and It’s Not That Deep, leaned into R&B textures and electronic sounds. T-Shirt Nothing Else presents a refined alt-pop side of her that feels deeply personal.
The EP opens with “Milk & Honey,” a euphoric track exploring the complexities of queer love. Polly Money’s dreamy vocals glide over an upbeat melody, evoking the thrill and vulnerability of early romance. Lyrics like “It’s mother nature so why’d she act like it’s unnatural?” highlight her honest perspective on formative queer experiences.
Another standout track is “i’m not proud,” which describes guilt and attraction in relationships. The song juxtaposes playful production with emotionally charged lyrics such as “I’m thinking about you when she goes down.” Its folk-rock elements paired with bouncing synths demonstrates the nuances of romantic conflict.
“Anything,” the closing track, reflects on Polly’s struggles with imposter syndrome during her time touring with The 1975. With lyrics like “And I’m not even that good at it, I just got lucky,” the song reveals her vulnerability while maintaining a polished pop sound.
Beyond her solo work, she will join The 1975 at Glastonbury 2025, where they will headline the Pyramid Stag. A “bucket list” moment she describes as a dream come true. Touring with the band has been transformative for Money, inspiring her songwriting and developing her confidence as an artist.
