Bon Iver Releases Two New Songs, Including Danielle Haim Collaboration

Bon Iver has released two new songs: “If Only I Could Wait” featuring Danielle Haim and “Walk Home.” These tracks are part of their upcoming fifth studio album, SABLE, fABLE, which will come out on April 11, 2025, through Jagjaguwar.

This album marks Bon Iver’s first full-length release since 2016. It follows their Grammy-nominated album, i,i, released in 2019. SABLE, fABLE is expected to have a brighter and more emotionally intense sound than their last album, with themes of rebirth, love, and new life. Fans describe it as an “epilogue” to Bon Iver’s earlier music.

“If Only I Could Wait,” a duet with HAIM’s Danielle Haim, was created during a snowstorm in February 2022 while Haim and Stack were at Vernon’s studio. Being snowed in inspired the song, which explores feelings of connection and longing.

They describe it as a “bilateral crying question” about how long two people can hold onto each other. The other new song, “Walk Home,” conveys a sense of urgency and commitment. Its upbeat feel and sincere lyrics showcase the emotional depth that fans appreciate about Bon Iver.

The album continues the minimal sound style from Bon Iver’s 2024 EP SABLE, which included three tracks also featured on SABLE, fABLE: “Things Behind Things Behind Things,” “S P E Y S I D E,” and “Awards Season.” The other tracks discuss love and transformation. Standout songs include “Everything Is Peaceful Love,” “Day One” (with Dijon and Flock of Dimes), and “There’s A Rhythm.”
