Sabrina Carpenter continues her impressive streak on Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart as Short n’ Sweet holds the No. 1 spot for the sixth non-consecutive week. This latest achievement makes Carpenter the artist with the longest reign on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2024, surpassing previous leaders Taylor Swift with The Tortured Poets Department and Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft.
In addition to dominating the albums chart, Carpenter’s success extends to the ARIA Singles Chart. Her single “Taste” has now secured its seventh consecutive week at No. 1, making it the longest-running No. 1 single in Australia this year. Across her three No. 1 singles in 2024, Carpenter has spent a total of 10 combined weeks at the top, solidifying her as one of the year’s leading performers in the Australian music market.
While Sabrina Carpenter holds the top spot, Coldplay made a strong debut at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart with their latest release, Moon Music. The British band’s 10th studio album also topped the U.K. charts and continues their impressive record in Australia. Since their debut album Parachutes in 2000, all of Coldplay’s albums have reached either No. 1 or No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, with seven of those albums achieving the No. 1 spot. Coldplay’s latest achievement comes just ahead of their Music Of The Spheres World Tour, which kicks off in Australia on October 30 at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium.
Rounding out the top 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart is Kasey Chambers, the ARIA Hall of Fame-inducted Australian country artist. Her 13th studio album, Backbone, debuted at No. 3, marking yet another high point in a career that has seen her collect 13 ARIA Awards and five No. 1 albums. Chambers remains one of Australia’s most successful country musicians.
On the singles chart, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” moved up from No. 4 to No. 2, while Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” dropped from No. 2 to No. 3. Both artists continue to enjoy widespread success in Australia, even as Carpenter maintains her dominance with “Taste.”
Elsewhere on the ARIA Albums Chart, enigmatic Australian art-rock band TISM made their return with Death To Art, debuting at No. 15. This marks TISM’s sixth appearance in the ARIA Top 50. The band’s previous albums include Great Truckin’ Songs Of The Renaissance (No. 48 in 1988), Machiavelli And The Four Seasons (No. 8 in 1995), and De RigeurMortis (No. 24 in 2001). Known for their eccentric performances and satirical lyrics, TISM has remained a cult favorite in the Australian music scene for decades.
As Sabrina Carpenter continues to dominate both the albums and singles charts, 2024 is shaping up to be a landmark year for the young artist, with her presence firmly established in the Australian music landscape.
