Kesha is already making waves with her recent Joyride EP, but the excitement doesn’t stop there. She’s preparing for a groundbreaking new album, released under her own label, Kesha Records. Kesha believes this collection includes the finest tracks of her career. She discussed the special nature of this project, her first after becoming an independent artist post-legal disputes with Dr. Luke, founder of Kemosabe Records, who she had accused of various forms of abuse in 2014. Dr. Luke has denied these claims and countersued for defamation, with both parties reaching a settlement last year.
Kesha’s latest EP, launched on July 4, features the self-released single “Joyride,” marking her venture into total creative independence. “This album marks the first time I’ve had full control over the production process,” she stated. “It’s akin to my very first, feeling absolutely liberating.”
She described the creation of this album as incredibly uplifting and the most enjoyable period in her career. She enthusiastically added, “If you thought Animal was enjoyable, just wait for what’s coming.”
Drawing a comparison to her breakout with the 2010 album Animal, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200, Kesha feels she’s returned to a similarly joyful creative phase. “For the first time in a long while, I’m approaching music with the same unfiltered happiness as I did back then,” she reflected.
With “Joyride,” which achieved notable positions on several Billboard charts, Kesha continues to prove that her musical journey is a personal one. “No matter how ‘Joyride’ is received, it represents me entirely,” she declared, embracing her self-worth and artistic autonomy.
