Legendary musician Nick Cave is embarking on a unique European solo tour this summer, joined onstage by Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood.
Cave, best known as the frontman for The Bad Seeds, will perform a selection of songs spanning his vast and acclaimed career. This stripped-down format promises a personal and intimate experience for fans.
The tour kicks off with a three-night residency at the Onassis Stegi venue in Athens, Greece on June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Following this, Cave will make appearances at festivals and concert halls across Europe, including Belgrade River Fest (Serbia), Musiikkitalo (Finland), and Harpa concert hall (Iceland).
Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 12th, at 10 AM local time.
This collaboration with Greenwood marks a reunion of sorts. Greenwood previously toured with Cave’s solo band and their joint performances with Warren Ellis. Additionally, a recent trailer revealed Greenwood’s contribution to The Bad Seeds’ highly anticipated 18th album, Wild God, due out August 30th.
Cave has described Wild God as a ten-track collection “full of secrets” and a departure from the grief-stricken themes of his previous albums, Skeleton Tree (2016) and Ghosteen (2019). These earlier works explored the aftermath of his son Arthur’s tragic death in 2015.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will follow this solo tour with a separate European, UK, and Ireland tour later this year in support of Wild God. Cave himself expressed his excitement for the live experience, stating, “The record just feels like it was made for the stage.”
In addition to his musical pursuits, Cave has recently generated headlines with his criticisms of “woke culture” and its perceived lack of compassion. He’s also collaborated with longtime musical partner Warren Ellis on the score for the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic, Back To Black. Cave even contributed an original song to the film’s soundtrack titled “Song For Amy.”
Nick Cave’s European solo tour promises a captivating exploration of his vast musical legacy, offering fans a rare opportunity to witness his artistry in a more intimate setting.
