As Ed Sheeran prepares to embark on the Asian leg of his eagerly anticipated ‘+ – = ÷ x’ tour, surprising details have emerged about his unconventional approach to tour life. It has been revealed that the acclaimed singer-songwriter will be shuttling between Asia and the UK every week during the upcoming tour dates.
The Asian tour, set to commence later this month, will kick off with two shows in Japan before making its way through Taiwan and Southeast Asia in February. Ed Sheeran’s musical journey will also include stops in Indonesia and The Philippines in early March, concluding with a sole show in India.
Adding an extra layer of excitement to the tour, tour promoter AEG Asia has announced that fellow English singer-songwriter Calum Scott will be joining Sheeran on this leg of the musical adventure. Scott, known for hits like ‘Give Me Love,’ shared insights into Sheeran’s unique approach to the tour, revealing that the chart-topping artist will be making weekly trips back to the UK to be with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two daughters.
In a recent statement to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Scott noted, “[Sheeran’s] coming and going back home from Asia to be able to see his kids every week. He’s a really family and friends-driven kind of artist. That’s unreal jet lag though. I don’t know how he’ll cope with it – a lot of melatonin!”
Reflecting on his own experiences and aspirations, Scott shared his thoughts on family life, expressing his desire to become a father. “Travelling around the world, I have more chance of meeting my life-long partner than I have sitting in my front room on my sofa in my parts watching ‘Friends’ reruns,” he mused. “I want to be a dad. It would be nice to share that family adventure with someone significant.”
In other recent news, Ed Sheeran celebrated a surprising triumph at the Emmy Awards, clinching his first-ever Emmy in the Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics category for his contribution to the TV show Ted Lasso. Expressing his gratitude on social media, Sheeran acknowledged the unexpected win, stating, “I was not expecting to win at all, it was a real real surprise waking up to the news.” Despite missing the ceremony due to his imminent tour commitments, Sheeran’s Emmy victory adds another feather to his illustrious musical cap.
