On July 14, 2023, Cynthia Nabozny, better known by her stage name Cyn, released her latest single “Where Do All The Diamonds Go?”.

The song is a lead up to her much-anticipated debut album, scheduled to drop later in the year. Cyn co-wrote this enigmatic new track with Teddy Geiger and Evan Voytas. The trio’s collaborative efforts also extended into production, spearheaded by Teddy Geiger.

The captivating music video that accompanies the song brings forth another layer to the track. The video, under the meticulous direction of Mister, a dynamic duo consisting of Miche Sieg & Rose Chirillo, successfully captures the underlying essence of the song.

In regard to her new song, Cyn explained, “When I wrote this song, I had a lot think about my Ring, Other Rings, His Ring, and adjusting to all that comes along with his old ring. Well, it was quite a hard thing but really, this song has nothing to do with rings. This song is about how some things die and make way for seeds of meant to be with no choice but to grow.” She further elucidated the theme, Something happens when you have a baby and it’s not easy to describe. I almost defend myself when I hear the words for what there are. It’s something like the death of who you used to be and the evolution into someone new and it’s not meant to scare and it is excruciating and beautiful and natural. It’s the kind of growing that heroes do and just one of things I touch on my new song “Where Do All The Diamonds Go?

The music video, staged in a pawn shop, aims to portray the nuanced emotions and narratives attached to personal objects. Commenting on the experience, Cyn stated, “The music video takes place in a pawn shop and to be honest, pawn shops are actually…emotionally taxing! Everyone has a story, a gut-wrenching story! Every object, maybe sold in some kind of desperation…or not. It’s eye-opening; life has so many facets.” She recounted a particularly impactful moment during the shoot involving a woman searching for her illegally pawned wedding ring, underscoring that everyone has been somewhere, everyone is headed somewhere, and everyone is carrying a weight.

Indeed, the filming experience seemed to have deeply moved Cyn, as she found herself empathizing with the stories behind even the smallest objects. She reflects on a Nintendo Switch in the shop and a TikTok she had watched about a girl whose mother had pawned her Game Boy. Her sentimentality for young people navigating situations beyond their control is poignantly expressed.

Cyn concluded, “Our video features a beautifully, rich in character cast!” Thus, “Where Do All The Diamonds Go?” promises a compelling look into the diverse narratives that we, as humans, embody, making it a striking testament to Cyn’s musical prowess and storytelling ability.
