American singer-songwriter, Dominic Fike, is set to release his second studio album, “Sunburn”, on July 7, 2023, through Columbia Records. This album marks his first major project in three years, following his 2020 debut album “What Could Possibly Go Wrong”. The announcement comes with the unveiling of the album’s second single, “Ant Pile”, which followed the initial release of “Dancing in the Courthouse” in April. The new track is a collaborative effort between Dominic Fike, Julian Cruz, Jim-E Stack, Henry Kwapis, and Devin Workman.
Accompanying the release of “Ant Pile” is a music video directed by Floridaman. The song offers a poignant reflection on the often awkward journey through puberty, experiences of high school romances, and challenging family situations. Fike shared his excitement about the new release on social media, posting some throwback photos and joking about a now-shaved mustache.
“Sunburn” promises to be a deeply personal collection of 14 tracks, exploring themes of “heartbreak and regret, addiction, sex, and jealousy”, according to press materials. Inspired by his upbringing in Florida, the album is predominantly autobiographical. Fike has collaborated with producer Jim-E-Stack, his band’s drummer Henry Kwapis, and bassist Devon Workman on this anticipated project.
In support of “Sunburn”, Fike also announced the dates for his 2023 North American Tour. The tour begins at the TCU Amphitheater at White River State in Indianapolis on July 13 and culminates at the Iroquois Amphitheatre in Louisville on August 30, 2023. This tour is an opportunity for fans to experience Fike’s new work live, adding to the anticipation surrounding his upcoming album.
