James Gunn disproves a Superman: Legacy movie rumor regarding Clark Kent having a son. The DCEU is on its final legs as DC Studios prepares to launch a new DC Universe. As co-CEOs of the newly created division, James Gunn and Peter Safran are steering the DC brand in a new direction. They are in charge of all films, television shows, animation, and video games linked to the DC Universe. Safran and Gunn announced the first half of Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters,” at the end of January this year.
Gunn’s Superman: Legacy film, which he is presently writing, will kick off the slate properly. It is unclear if he will direct the reboot or not, although Gunn is widely expected to do so. A recent rumor regarding Superman: Legacy said that this new take on Clark Kent might include a child in the plot. Nevertheless, Gunn quickly debunked the allegations, clarifying that he had never claimed that Superman will have a child.
I never said Clark is going to have a child.

So far, all that has been disclosed about Superman: Legacy is that film will center on a youthful Clark Kent. According to Gunn, while Superman: Legacy will be a reboot, it will not be an origin tale. This Superman will also be familiar with some of the important characters rather than meeting them for the first time. This indicates that Superman will be well-established in the new DC Universe.
Clark and Lois Lane’s kid isn’t born until much later in their lives, thus having Jon Kent introduced this early would feel unearned. It is the strategy taken by The CW’s Superman & Lois, which also had a twin brother, Jordan Kent. Yet, in the DC Universe, Gunn’s Jon may appear towards the end of this trilogy or in a subsequent trilogy. Clark and Lois will have gone a long way as a pair by that point.
This would allow the DC Universe to examine Jon as a young child and separate him from Superman and Lois as teenagers. Having Lois and Clark create a family on the big screen would be a first in Superman film history, and ideally, the DC Universe will be able to handle that tale for them. While Superman: Legacy is set to be released in 2025, it will be some time before further information about the planned remake becomes available.
