American Rock band, Weezer, return with “I Want a Dog,” which is the lead single of their EP SZNZ: Winter, to be released on December 21. The upcoming record is the fourth and final part of their four-album series; SZNZ: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.
“I Want a Dog” kicks off with a mild acoustic composition joined by Rivers Cuomo’s intriguing vocals, singing, “I want a dog / ‘Cause he’d try to lick my face / And he would smile / When I get home to my place / I want a dog.”
Cuomo had recently announced their first-ever Broadway residency, which later got canceled “due to low ticket sales and unbelievably high expenses.” In a statement, the lead singer revealed:
“I just learned that our Broadway shows have been canceled. I’m very sorry to be telling you this now after we’ve already invested so much time, thought, and emotion. Extra apologies to those of you who cleared schedules and made travel plans to be with us. Thanks to Broadway Producer for all your hard work and great ideas. I loved where we were going, and I hope we can find a way to resurrect our vision.”
The new EP follows the band’s 15th studio album, Van Weezer, which came out Last May in 2021. Weezer share “I Want a Dog” to give fans a preview of what to expect from SZNZ: Winter, “Go give it a spin while you anxiously wait for the rest of SZNZ: Winter to make its appearance ❄️🥶.”
