Welsh musician and record producer Cate Le Bon shared the official music video for “Typical Love.” The track is the first new music from the artist since her LP Pompeii, released in February.
Directed by Phil Collins and Stefan Ramírez Pérez, the Siniša Mitrović produced video was recorded on 16mm film in Cologne, Germany and is a tribute to Henri-Georges Clouzot’s unfinished 1964 movie Inferno. Close-up, medium close-up, and medium shot frames add all the right emotions to the clip that revolves around the second element; water.
Le Bon reveals that “Typical Love” was written with Stella Mozgawa during her Pompeii album sessions, “The outline, written on bass along to one of Stella’s infectious grooves, was taken into the Pompeii sessions where I disassembled and reassembled it many times but it always felt like a second cousin to the other tracks so was put aside for a rainy day.”
The lyrics of the first verse defines aspects of modern day love: “Mine relies on lowering my/ expectations/ A good life and/ Typical love.” Le Bon sings in the chorus: “Nothing ever changed in your/ corridor eyes/ Rely on me, baby/ Rely on air/ Only a shadow again.”
Cate Le Bon has a US tour planned with American singer-songwriter A. Savage that will kick off in San Diego this November.
