The Sheffield rockstars shared the release date of their much-awaited new album The Car. Arctic Monkeys’ seventh studio album will come out Friday, October 21 via Domino. The cover artwork of the 10-track record, which is a shot of a single car pulled up at a rooftop parking lot, was photographed by the band’s drummer Matt Helders.
The Car is produced by James Ford who has been working with the Arctic Monkeys ever since their Humbug days. The record will have a special deluxe vinyl edition, in addition to the standard LP, CD, and cassette. An exclusive custard colored LP will be sold at independent record shops and HMV stores. The album will be available to download on all streaming platforms as well.
Alex Turner is a lyrical genius and his exceptional approach to creating music never fails to deliver something fresh with every record he puts out there. The Car follows 2018’s critically acclaimed album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. The frontman teases that “on this record, sci-fi is off the table. We are back to earth.”
20 years later and the band members are still true to their younger selves. Alex admits that: “You have to follow your instincts in the same way you did in the first place, in that way, it does all feel like it’s connected to us 20 years ago in the garage when it was pure instinct.”
Arctic Monkeys have had six straight UK number one albums. Alex Turner, Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bassist Nick O’Malley are currently on tour performing shows all over Europe, premiering some of the songs off of the new record The Car, and confirming yet again their undeniable charisma and talent that goes beyond any classification.
