In Chicago this autumn, Pose star Angelica Ross will make her Broadway debut in the role of the deadly vixen Roxie Hart in the popular musical, becoming the first openly transgender performer to do so.
The eight-week run of Ross, whose resume also includes American Horror Story: 1984, will begin on September 12 at the Ambassador Theatre.
She will be a part of a Broadway that is beginning to welcome transgender actors. When Peppermint, a RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, starred in the Go-jukebox Go’s musical Head Over Heels in 2018, she made history by being the first openly transgender woman to play the main role on Broadway.
