Flowing as a single vibe and blending a myriad of urban genres into an exciting and original mix, American artist Pronto’s new track “I’m Done” is destined to keep fans engaged from start to finish thanks to the smooth power it distills. We had a chance to chat with him about his new release, inspirations, favorite artists and much more!
Congratulations on the release of your new track “I’m Done”!
Tell us more about it, what inspired you to record this song?
I had someone very close to me who I’d never thought betray me, stab me in the back, so I grabbed a drink and grabbed a mic and went straight into the studio.
What drove you to become an artist? How did it all start?
I never really knew how to cope with what I’m feeling growing up. I don’t like people and don’t hang around anyone because of the amount of betrayal I’ve been through. I always loved rap music and thought it was so unique how to get all these words in the world rhyming, so when I heard Rod Wave be able to tell a story and put feelings into the rap game, I knew I found my passion and my therapy.
In terms of creative process, how different was working on your new song compared to your previous releases?
Honestly with all my music there isn’t much of a difference at all other than what I went through to make that song. I keep them pretty much to the point and short for a reason. I don’t believe in forcing lyrics on a song just to make it longer. I rap about what I’ve been through and stop the first chance I get because I don’t want to fabricate my music. So as far as the process of making goes, if I have a feeling about what I have been or currently am going through, I just stick to that thought/feeling and rap about it.
What is your most memorable moment or experience as an artist?
Most memorable moment was when I hit my first 100,000 streams. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot but for an underground artist that hadn’t done promotion, doesn’t do social media and no one has heard of him to press upload and see my first mini milestone complete. It just made me more excited to tell more of my story.
We’ve noticed that you enjoy merging various styles in your music, how would you define your own specific genre?
I would call it, Therapy Rap.
What is your favorite song of the moment?
My favorite song of the moment would be Rod Wave Time Heals, just about everything that I’m going through so it just hits for me.
What artists have influenced you the most?
NAV/ A Boogie kinda gave me an outline of how I wanted to sound, Rod Wave/ Polo G influenced me to rap about how I’m feeling and what I’m going through.
What’s next for Pronto?
Well right now, I have a problem with time. Time keeps taking a lot away from me… You’ll know exactly what I’m talking about next month, just keep your ears out and heart open haha.
